	Cortona offers many activities, including reenactment of historical events, both in the town and nearby.
	Colata dei Ceri a S. Margherita (Night)   Giostra dell'Archidado Antique Farm Cart Festival - Fratticiola   Fiera Antiquaria D'Arezzo On the first Sunday of each month (and the preceding Saturday) hundreds of dealers of antiques and reproductions, as well as artisans with their original work, line the streets and piazze (e.g. Via Cavour, Pza. Grande) in the historic center of nearby Arezzo. Easy to reach by either car or via the bus (LFI - S/6 line) from Pza. Garibaldi in Cortona.
			In addition to the events listed below, there are numerous orchestral & choral concerts, recitals, and operas in July, August, and September. Check the bulletin boards in Piazza Signorelli and along via Nazionale (or with the A.P.T. on via Nazionale) for the current schedules.

Margherita - period (medieval) costume processions (based on a Cortona Statue dated 1325) on the weekend evenings preceeding the feast of Santa Margherita (May 9, 2010). Friday & Sat. preceeding Ascension; usually the Saturday & Sunday prior to the Giostra. (May 29 & 30, 2010). Festival of May - Castiglion Fiorentino (May 1 - May 31, 2010) Calendimaggio Festival - in nearby Assisi [Umbria]. Locals in Medieval costumes with minstrels strolling the streets. (May 7-9, 2010) Giostra dell'Archidado (June 6, 2010) - historical recreation of AD 1397 archery contest between the quintiere of Cortona in celebration of the wedding of Francesco Casali & Antonia Salembeni in that year. The recreation of the wedding will be at 21:15 on June 5 in Piazza Signorelli and the Giostra (the Sunday after Ascension) is at 16:00 on June 5 in Piazzi Signorelli. An additional event during this period: On June 6 at 21:15 in Pza. Signorelli an exhibition of Flagthrowers from Cortona & surrounding communities. Wild Boar Festival - Castiglion Fiorentino (May 7-9 & 14-16, 2010) Flower and ornamental plant exhibition - Piazza Signorelli & Piazza della Repubblica (April 24, 2010) Corsa dei Ceri (each May 15 in Gubbio [Umbria]). A race with giant candles to Chiesa Sant'Ubaldo. On the eve of Sant'Ubaldo's Feast Day (St. Ubaldo is Gubbio's patron saint).
